It’s true: America’s wealthiest .1 percent has almost as much wealth as the bottom 90 percent. As the chart above from the Washington Center for Equitable Growth and The Guardian shows, the bottom 90 percent’s wealth peaked in the 1980s and has been on a steady decline since. The Great Recession sped up that decline.
